Foxhole map mod with better terrain and road colors, topography, etc. Inspired by and somewhat based on the Sentsu's Better Map Mod.
Includes all recent (Update 55) map changes.
Image below shows the difference between the versions. Choose ONE version you like and download it.
Optional .zip file contains all the versions above in non HD format (same resolution as vanilla). In case if you have potato PC or want a slightly more zoomed out view of minimap.

update? just needs a refresh to clear the mortar house new icon's actual white squares bug which makes it quite bad to look at the map since it takes a lot of screen space when looking at it :)

The mortar-house icons are now replaced with white squares. The squares get bigger as you zoom out. No rush for a fix but just wanted let dev know.
that's a "ui/intel" mod you have issue, not related to improved map mod
oh, i eat my words, Improved map Mod DOES give you white squares instead of Mortar houses on map now.
I thought it was one of my map icons mod, my bad to assume it was because of it, but actually both do cause problems with the new mortar house icon!
If you are using my red icons mod, please update it to the latest version that addresses these issues.

With map mod on game doesn't show contents of Liquid\Resource\Material transfer stations.

Is there a way to get the map as a single, large file by itself for out-of-game viewing?
Would be awesome an image of whole map - mainly bcs some mods are outdated after naval and ppl don't know if this is also, without image of map after naval update
This mod is currently up to date. It usually takes about 2 weeks at most.
Thanks for the update! One question, is it possible to change the scaling of INTEL elements? Im playing on a 1440p monitor and wish infantry, vehicle and defense icons were bigger.
i am not sure if this is an error on my end, but i am unable to unzip the file with the vanilla resolution paks. send help :(

Love this mod, thanks for updating it. What would be amazing is mapping all the bushes on the map, that would be so useful for partisans especially.

It seems in the latest war this mod can't handle some of the regions.
Namely the rollowing hexes are showing the default map style instead of the style implemented by this mod:
- The Clahstra
- Fisherman's Row
- The Oarbreaker Isles
- Reaver's Pass
- Stema Landing
- Stlican Shelf
So far, while choosing which map style I wanted, I can confirm this issue persists with these hexes for the following variants of this mod:
- War-WindowsNoEditor_ImprovedMapMod_CompleteMulti.pak
- War-WindowsNoEditor_ImprovedMapMod_DarkRdzMulti.pak
- War-WindowsNoEditor_ImprovedMapMod_NoRdzMulti.pak
- ImprovedMapMod_NonHD/War-WindowsNoEditor_ImprovedMapMod_NoRdzMulti.pak
I assume this is the same for all variants, though.
EDIT: I tried to also add screenshots, but according to Itch's error message they are "having server issues right now" when trying to attach them. Essentially though, most hexes are showing the modded map style but a few of them (named above) are ignoring it and just showing the default style. To confirm, this has been tested both with other mods and without any other mods.
So I made an itch account just to report this issue. Overall love the map mod and the detail. Especially the dark border zones and simple roads!
(difficult to see the green/blue areas otherwise using red borders)
My issue is with the zoom level. On my super ultrawide 5120x1440 I am very zoomed in the entire time. I have heard the same issues from users more standard ultrawide monitors as well. Could we have a map version that fits the ultrawide size format? Currently my max zoom out is about the size of a single hex, my mini map is so zoomed it becomes basically useless, and to see/read town names the map has to be very zoomed in. Making use of the map difficult or to give/find directions a timely effort. Examples below.
Love the mod, love the detail, and love everything about it. Though us ultrawide users would really appreciate some quality of life adjustments if you could please.
